"I'm a Cuckoo" is one of the highlights of Belle & Sebastian's fabulous comeback of sorts, Dear Catastrophe saddkicklessgelabi.guipesisobmicerfidasuthanswestre.infoinfo on like the indie pop version of Thin Lizzy (who get a mention in the lyrics), the song is a laid-back, strummy ballad with low-key harmony lead guitars, a wonderfully loping beat, a surprise horn section on the bridge, and lazily drawled lyrics.8/
Dear Catastrophe Waitress is great improvement from the disappointment of Belle & Sebastian's 4th record. But still, the band hasn't recaptured the energy and magnificence of their first three. It's mostly really fun, and there are a few spots where Murdoch's singing shines brighter than ever%(11).
Oct 06, · Dear Catastrophe Waitress collects Belle and Sebastian’s greatest strengths: sugary, impossible-to-forget melodies and jangly indie pop. The title track offers up a jaunty acoustic strum pitted against orchestral flourishes, and “Stay Loose” harks back to ‘60s-era English dancefloors, combining classic pop and New Wave sounds.
Belle and Sebastian, with the release of Dear Catastrophe Waitress, create a great album with noticeable Beatles influence without completely ripping off specific Beatles songs. Belle and Sebastian were really in a tight spot with the upcoming release of Dear Catastrophe Waitress.
